Chew Resistant Dog Beds: The Unicorns of Dog Beds

We want to share all the popular and durable chew resistant dog beds on Amazon with you but we can’t.

They don’t exist. (Well… a unicorn has been spotted: the Orvis ToughChew line. These beds are guaranteed chew resistant.)

Why don’t they exist – in general?

Because people get annoyed when their dog’s new “chew resistant” bed doesn’t resist very hard. Here’s some of that annoyance:

“I bought this bed because of the reviews, however my yellow Lab chewed the bed for dinner…”

“My dog chewed a hole in the bed the second day.”

“Our puppy chewed up the entire end of this bed after just 2 days. It is not chew resistant and shouldn’t be advertised as such.”

“Unfortunately my 18 month lab opened a big hole; though it was supposed to be pet resistant. Either I have a bionic dog or the product is not as tough as it sells itself.”

This isn’t the bed’s fault. No fabric can hold up to a dog who knows how to rip into fabric. Cold hard truth? Dogs who bed shred like to bed shred. To them, a new “Chew Resistant” Dog Bed is like a sudoku marked “challenging” – just something to sink your teeth into, as it were.

In my opinion, many people don’t want a chew resistant bed, they want a chew proof bed and that’s an easy choice, there’s only one – the Kuranda dog bed. They may not come in designer colors their brilliant design doesn’t allow even a determined bed shredder to get the fabric into his mouth.

At all.

And that works!
